On January 26th, ABC11 released an article titled, "Mass COVID-19 Vaccination Clinic Being Planned for Durham,
" that shares relevant information about the plans for North Carolina's newest vaccination site.
Durham joins the list of counties that will hold mass vaccination clinics sometime between next weekend and the beginning of February. During the Durham County Board of Commissioner's meeting
, Durham County Health Director Rodney Jenkins announced plans to set up a new mass vaccination clinic. "For the most part, we're still working out the particulars involved with a memorandum of agreement. I just want to remember that this was something that Secretary Cohen has said that will be placed in Durham," he said. While there is still no information about the venue selected for the clinic, officials plan for a capacity to vaccinate 17,000 people a week and for the clinic to operate every day.
This initiative would come at the heels of a mass vaccination event at Charlotte Motor Speedway, in which 16,000 people got their dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. Durham's clinic will come from a partnership between the Durham County health departments and the North Carolina Emergency Management and Fidelity Investments.
